Every great drive starts the night before, with a plug and a little patience. The 70V lithium pack in our Standard and Performance models gives you up to 4 hours of driving (up to 31 miles, depending on how you drive) and refills in about seven hours. That's one good night's sleep for you, and one full tank of electrons for the kart.
Lithium packs are low-drama, but they do have preferences. Treat them right and they'll still feel punchy long after the new-kart smell has gone.
Driving the 4-Cylinder? There's no drive battery to charge. Follow the owner's manual for fuel and engine care, and skip to the storage tips below.
Rule number one: the charger in the box is the only charger
Your kart ships with a charger matched to its pack. A random charger from the internet can look identical and still be completely wrong. Use the supplied one, every time.
The nightly routine (it takes ten seconds)
• Plug in after the last drive of the day. It's full by morning.
• After a hard session, especially on the Performance, let the kart cool down before charging
• Charge indoors or under cover, on a hard, dry surface
• Keep the area clear of clutter, fuel and anything flammable
• Use a grounded outlet, and skip the daisy-chain of extension cords
• Stay around while it charges, as you would with any big battery
Lithium cells love being topped up and hate being run flat. Finish most sessions with a little charge left, and your pack will thank you for years.
Why some sessions feel shorter
Up to 4 hours or up to 31 miles is the best-case scenario. These are the usual range thieves:
• Hero launches: repeated full-throttle starts and long top-speed runs, especially on the Performance
• Hills and soft ground: gravel, grass and slopes ask the motor to work harder
• Extra weight: heavier loads mean more effort for every mile
• Cold weather: lithium cells deliver less when it's chilly
• Soft tyres: under-inflated tyres add drag (check the owner's manual for the right pressures)
Want longer sessions? Ask about the battery upgrade when you request your build. It's a higher-capacity pack for people who never want to come inside.
Putting it to bed for the season
1. Bring the pack to around half full. Not full, not empty: the Goldilocks zone.
2. Park somewhere dry and above freezing. A garage that stays above freezing is perfect.
3. Keep it out of direct sun and away from heaters.
4. Check the charge once a month, and top it back up to about half if it has dropped.
5. Before the first drive of spring, charge it fully and take a slow test lap.
A fitted car cover keeps dust off that hard-won paint while it hibernates. It's one of our custom-build extras.
The five-minute monthly check-up
• Charger, cable and plug: no cuts, kinks or loose bits
• Charging port: clean and dry
• Nothing stored on or leaning against the kart
• Tyre pressures where they should be
• One short, slow drive to make sure everything feels normal
When to stop and call us
Unplug and contact our team before charging again if you notice any of these:
• The pack or charger gets unusually hot, or you smell burning or chemicals
• Swelling, damage or leaks on the battery housing
• The charger isn't behaving as described in the manual
• Range suddenly drops well below your usual sessions
Your kart comes with a 90-day warranty, and correct charging protects it. Damage from improper charging or battery use isn't covered by ordinary returns, so the supplied charger really is your best friend.
