Replica go kart vs kids' ride-on toy: what you actually get

Mini electric & gas replicas of the Porsche 911, Ferrari F40 and AE86 lined up at sunset

Search for "mini Porsche" and you'll find two very different things at wildly different prices: plastic ride-on toys for small children, and half-scale replica go karts like ours. In a thumbnail they can look surprisingly similar. In your driveway, they're not even the same sport.

Here's an honest side-by-side, so you know exactly what you're paying for.

Ride-on toys are brilliant for a three-year-old, and they're designed to be outgrown. A mini sports car replica like ours is built for teenagers and adults, so it doesn't end up in the yard sale. It's made to be kept: driven on weekends, shown at meets and parked where people can see it.

A toy is made to be safe at a toddler's pace. Our karts are real vehicles, so they come with grown-up rules: private property only, an adult supervising younger riders, and a speed limiter plus a parental remote that can slow or stop the kart, so learners can start slow.

If the driver is under 12, a ride-on toy is the safer and smarter buy, and we'll happily tell you so. Our karts start at age 12 for a reason.
